Our Heritage โ The Hakki Pikki Story
Rooted in the Forest. Crafted by Tradition.
The story of Adivasi Sowndarya Herbal Products & the Hakki Pikki community of Karnataka
Who Are the Hakki Pikki?
Deep in the forests of Karnataka, India โ particularly in the lush regions around H D Kote, Mysore โ lives one of India's most remarkable indigenous communities: the Hakki Pikki (เฒนเฒเณเฒเฒฟ เฒชเฒฟเฒเณเฒเฒฟ), whose name in Kannada means "bird catchers."
For centuries, the Hakki Pikki people have lived in close harmony with nature. As semi-nomadic forest dwellers, they developed an extraordinary knowledge of wild herbs, roots, barks, and botanicals โ a living pharmacy passed down not in books, but through generations of oral tradition, practice, and lived experience.
This deep relationship with the natural world gave the Hakki Pikki an unmatched understanding of medicinal plants and their healing properties โ knowledge that modern science is only beginning to rediscover.
A 70-Year Family Legacy
Our story begins over 70 years ago, when our elders in the Hakki Pikki community began preparing herbal hair oils using formulas that had been refined over many generations. These were not commercial recipes โ they were sacred family knowledge, developed through decades of observation of nature and its gifts.
Our ancestors understood which herbs strengthened hair roots, which barks prevented scalp infections, which forest botanicals restored shine and thickness. They prepared these oils by hand, with patience and reverence, the way their parents and grandparents had taught them.
Today, we โ the next generation of that same family โ carry this tradition forward. We have not changed the formula. We have not taken shortcuts. We prepare our herbal hair oil exactly as our elders did: by hand, with natural ingredients, and with deep respect for the knowledge entrusted to us.
How Our Oil Is Made โ The Traditional Way
In a world of factory-produced hair care, our process stands apart. There are no machines, no chemical accelerants, no synthetic preservatives. Every bottle of Adivasi Herbal Hair Oil is made the way it has always been made:
- ๐ฟ Wild-harvested herbs gathered from forests and fields, selected at the right season for maximum potency
- ๐ฅ Slow-cooked over a wood fire, allowing herbs to release their full medicinal properties into the base oil
- ๐คฒ Hand-processed and hand-strained โ no industrial machinery touches our oil
- ๐ฑ Zero chemicals โ no mineral oil, no silicones, no artificial fragrance, no parabens
- โณ Time-intensive preparation โ because good things cannot be rushed
This is not a product made in a factory. It is a product made by people โ people who have dedicated their lives to this craft and who take personal pride in every bottle.
Why This Matters for You
Modern hair care products are filled with chemicals that may give short-term shine but damage hair over time. Sulfates strip natural oils. Silicones create buildup. Synthetic fragrances cause scalp irritation.
Our customers come to us because they are looking for something different โ something real. They want hair care that works with nature, not against it. They want to know exactly what is going into their hair and where it comes from.
When you use Adivasi Herbal Hair Oil, you are not just buying a product. You are connecting with 70 years of indigenous wisdom, with the forests of Karnataka, and with a community that has devoted generations to understanding the healing power of plants.
Our Promise to You
Every bottle we send you is made by hand, with love, by members of the Hakki Pikki community in Mysore, Karnataka. We use only natural ingredients. We follow the same methods our grandparents used. And we stand behind every bottle we make.
This is our heritage. We are proud to share it with you.
"Our elders did not write down their knowledge in books. They wrote it in the land, in the plants, and in us. We carry it forward so it is never lost."
